A quick verification workflow
Compare two copies
Calculate the SHA-256 checksum of the original file, then select its copy. Matching checksums provide a practical check that the file contents are identical. File names do not affect the result.
Check a downloaded file
Compare the calculated value with a checksum published by a trusted source. A checksum can detect changed data; it does not by itself prove that the source or the file is safe.
Processing limits
This workspace reads the file into browser memory. Files larger than 100 MiB are rejected. For larger files, use a local checksum utility.
Privacy
File contents and generated checksums are processed locally. The workspace does not use analytics or third-party scripts. Standard web-server logs may record page and sample download requests.
